Preparing for the big trip: Part 1

So the big trip south is getting closer. July 26th we depart with boat in tow off to tackle WA's great North West waves. Thought it would be a good idea to go and get my boat trailer looked at by a mate here in Broome. "Bring it in for a quick nip 'n' tuck," said Cam. Next minute: "Mate, this thing is f%$#d! You wouldn't have made it halfway."

Ok, so the boat's in the shop but it's a weekend and it's sunny. So we should really be fishing, but we should really also be getting fit!!! Because Broome has made us fat!  Wait, I've got an idea! We go for a paddle on the mini-mals, with hand lines and troll for salmon whilst we paddle!!! Like most Tom Nagle ideas...sounds great in theory...less so in practice.

Boats, trailers and the Kimberley... IT'S NEVER EASY

Maddy loses all her line, blow out.

The result? No fish, no paddle fitness and a long way to go before the trip.

Stay tuned for more pre-mission froth.

Cheers,
